We created the Payson Mountain House for one reason. To create a home for our friends and families to get away from the noise of life. Our goal is to provide a place to relax, decompress and enjoy life in Payson.

Tonto Natural Bridge

Tonto natural bridge is off of 87/260 about 12 miles out of town. Cost is $7 per person and you should see if it is open before heading out.

Breakfast at the airport

The airport is a fun place to have breakfast at a picnic table and watch the helicopters and small planes land. Then if you head West you can drive on Earnheart way and see homes that have plane hangers attached. This is fun to see the planes up close. The restaurant at the airport has GREAT pie..

Wood Canyon Lake

Hiking and swimming

If you are up for a drive there are many lakes within 35 to 50 minutes from the Payson house. The lakes are East of Payson off of the 260. Google which one you want to go to. Woods Canyon Lake rents small boats. Willow Springs i s clean and fun to catch crawdads. Woods Canyon Lake; Willow Springs Lake; Black Canyon The Rim i s a great place to hike and walk on a paved road to see the beauty of the mountains if that is your destination.

The Payson Fountain

The pond and fountain is downtown off of main street. It is a nice leisurely walk. There is a DQ to take the kids for an ice cream right on highway 87.

Horseback Riding

There are a number of horseback riding stables around from Kohls ranch or Patterson Training. You will need to call and make reservations. At Kohlsranchstables.com or Paysonridinglessons.com.

The Water Wheel

Water wheel is 8.9 miles from the house. It is a series of waterfalls and fun to soak in and have a picnic for the day. Take Sherwood to the main road (87/260) turn right or north. You will want the road Houston Mesa. Follow the road to Waterwheel. You will want to get there early as i t gets really busy.

The beds in the guest room are so comfortable and the room is spacious. I had so much fun cooking in the kitchen as you know I love to cook. The kitchen has everything I needed to kick out a great meal with lots of space and the comforts of home. Your master bedroom is so cozy and welcoming. I love the stand alone tub!! Thank you for sharing your love of AZ and the local communities you call home. The hikes and walks we did were so fun and look forward to coming back for more adventures.
